STUDY OF THE COLLECTION OF MUMMIFIED HUMAN REMAINS OF THE CANARY MUSEUM

It is a research project carried out by El Museo Canario in collaboration with different institutions and specialists. It aims to contribute to the reconstruction of the pre-Hispanic society of Gran Canaria from the mummified human remains that the entity preserves, addressing issues such as funeral practices, diet and nutritional status, disease, evidence of violence and physical activity… With all this we aspire to deepen the knowledge of the ways and conditions of life of this human group.

Extraordinary World Congress of Mummies Studies
The Canary Museum participates in the Extraordinary World Congress of Mummy Studies organized by the Cabildo Insular de Tenerife from 21 to 25 May 2018. It presents a part of the results that the project "Study of the collection of mummified human remains of The Canary Museum" is contributing to the knowledge of the indigenous society of Gran Canaria.
