The Scientific Society The Canary Museum and SPAR Gran Canaria have signed a collaboration agreement for the year 2020 that will allow to develop the didactic program "Family Visits". This was announced by Diego López Díaz, president of El Museo Canario, and Angel Medina, president of SPAR Gran Canaria, during an event in which the new sponsorship agreement was signed by the two.

The agreement signed will involve the organization of family visits on a Sunday of each month during the year 2020, with the appeal that each of these visits will be different from the others and will address different themes around the contents of the museum. Thus, the programming includes activities and teaching resources such as theatrical visits, workshops, storytellers, track games, etc.

The collaboration of SPAR Gran Canaria is justified, in the words of its president, in that it is a company "clearly Canarian and sensitive to the conservation of the local culture". Promoting exclusively the project "Family Visits" of The Canary Museum, contributes to the "protection and dissemination of our history and cultural roots, the development of educational activities related to children and the family, as well as the impulse of the youth talent of the Canary".

SPAR Gran Canaria's commitment to the culture rooted in the traditions of the Canarian people is manifested in many other actions, such as, among others, the support it has maintained for more than 15 years with the Gran canarian folk group Los Gofiones, as well as the Latin sailing boat SPAR Guerra del Río. In this line, SPAR Gran Canaria addresses this new project with El Museo Canario with the aim of promoting the visit to the museum center by the Canarian families, also becoming a driver bridge between the associations and collaborating foundations with SPAR Gran Canaria and The Museo Canario, thus generating an important social work that enriches the project.

The sponsorship agreement has immediate effect. The first Family Visit of the Covenant, entitled "Living in an Aboriginal village", is scheduled for Sunday, January 19 at 12:00 h., and will be dedicated to children between 4 and 8 years old, who will have the theatrical support of a character who will accompany them along their tour of the museum. It is a proposal designed to answer in a playful way some key questions about life in the villages of the old canaries: spaces, objects, uses, customs, work… In this way, families will be able to approach the indigenous past of the island of Gran Canaria, enjoy the museum and share a fun and enjoyable learning experience.
