Part and document of the month 2018
Gender is a socially and culturally constructed concept, from which the members of a human group establish certain ways of relating (to behave, to organize production, to dress…) according to the category of gender to which each person is attached. Being a social product, these relationships change from one company to another and within each of them over time.
Their analysis in the populations of the past is a tool of undoubted value to reflect and investigate the principles on which we today build our own gender relations, but also to make visible the role that women have played in the construction and development of history.
