These conferences are held on November 28 and 29 in the conference room of the National Library and the museum will be represented by Luis Regueira who together with the archivist of La Palma, Manuel Poggio Capote, will talk about the introduction of the printing press in the Canary Islands, a two-hundred-year process that began in Tenerife in 1750 and lasted until the mid-20th century.
In this privileged forum you will have the opportunity to lecture on the circumstances surrounding the opening of the first Canarian printing press and its slow expansion through the archipelago. The value of Regueira and Poggio's contribution will lie in the contextualization of the process in relation to the rest of Macaronesia and other Hispanic overseas enclaves, also unraveling the possible reasons that made such a fundamental industry for development not reach the Canary Islands until the eighteenth century.
