iaDescription: Peak of triangular morphology with an active apex with signs of wear. The proximal face, opposite the apex, has very intense picketing footprints. The piece was configured by creating four faces: three to form the active edge and the fourth, which serves as the basis of the previous ones and which has the picketing traces. The instrument shows quite cortical reserve, revealing that it comes from the size of a block. Us
e/function: Working instrument intended for two different types of percussion: the targeted or apex area hits with the intention of fragmenting or tilling the rock. The opposite side is flat and because of the nature of the stigmas was not used for tilling, but for crushing. Carved peaks are documented in mines and quarries for the extraction of raw materials such as obsidian and toba. In this case, however, it comes from the barn of the Cenobio de Valerón, where it could be used to till the silos and, perhaps, to crush or grind some of the products stored there.
Origin: Cenobio de Valerón, T. M. de Guía, Gran Canari
