On April 3rd the juries of the 2014 Canarias Awards unveiled the name of the winners in the three modalities of this edition: Historical Heritage, Fine Arts and Interpretation and Research and Innovation, which have fallen to Lothar Siemens, Fernando Alamo and Sergio Moreno respectively. From The Canary Museum we congratulate in a special way the entrepreneur, musicologist, composer and cultural promoter Lothar Siemens, awarded in the category of Historical Heritage. Mr. Siemens's relationship with historical heritage has been a constant throughout his life. One of the reflections of this close bond is the tireless work developed in favor of the growth of The Canary Museum. Whether as president, position he held between 1991 and 1998, or as a partner of our institution, has always expressed a special concern towards the conservation of the archaeological, historical and documentary heritage of canaries, a fact that led to his appointment in 2005 as honorary partner of the Scientific Society, as well as the award of the Loyalty Award in 2012, which is awarded to those who have remained as members of El Museo for at least 50 years. In a special way it deserves to be highlighted its contribution to the maintenance and development of the music archive of The Canary Museum, a documentary deposit that grows steadily both thanks to its personal contributions and those of other musicians, a fact that has made our institution a reference in the field of Canarian music documentation.
