The hall of events of The Canary Museum hosts during the week of October 8th to 11th a cycle of conferences in homage to Eric R. Sventenius who have organized the Fundación Canaria Telesforo Bravo-Juan Coello and this institution.

Swedish botanist Eric Ragnor Sventenius (1910–1973) was a key figure in the knowledge of the flora of the Canary Islands. He resided on the islands for the first time during the Second Republic, and in 1952 returned to them to work in the Acclimatization Garden of La Orotava. In Gran Canaria he was the promoter of the Canary Botanical Garden "Viera y Clavijo", which was inaugurated in 1959 and whose direction he took over until the moment of his death.
