On this occasion, through a tour through the history of the artistic collection of The Canary Museum you will be able to appreciate not only how it has been growing over the years but also to note the constant link that has existed between The Canary Museum and the plastic arts.
From 1879 to the present day the interest shown in art by the members of the museum has resulted in various initiatives and activities that, on many occasions, have facilitated that pictorial works, engravings, drawings and sculptures have been entering through donations and acquisitions, coming in 2013 to own 312 engravings, 288 paintings, 107 drawings and 16 sculptures. It is therefore a heterogeneous background in terms of techniques, themes and procedures, highlighting the pieces that accessed the collection through the exhibitions that were held in its hall between 1948 and 2000. Thus, Manolo Millares, Felo Monzón, Juan Ismael, Rafael Bethencourt, José Julio, Francisco Lezcano, Yolanda Graziani, Eduardo Millares or Agustín Caballero Casassa, among many other artists, are present in the collection from the exhibitions that were held in our facilities. A good number of generous spontaneous donations, as well as some acquisitions, complete the usual entry routes through which the plastic fund of the museum institution has been growing.
