ote: Emiliano, soldier by profession, climbed charges of responsibility until finally granted the government of Moesia and Pannonia (Roman provinces bordering the Danube River, eastern southern boundary of the European Roman Empire), whose legions proclaimed him emperor. This insurrection culminated in the defeat of the reigning emperor, Treboniano Galo, and with his senatorial recognition as the new emperor. However, he would rule for only one year, being killed by his own soldiers. Emiliano belongs to a period in which military emperors, originating in the provinces, who are hailed by the army and mostly killed after brief governments, are being held on the throne. As a brave soldier, he was depicted in this coin accompanied by Virtus, bravery.
