The Canary Museum hosts this Tuesday, January 30, at 19:30 h., the presentation of the book "Health Centers in Gran Canaria (1900-1950)", the work of the urologist and historian Nicolás Chesa Ponce, edited by Mercurio Editorial. Volume is the result of extensive research in which Dr. Chesa reconstructs the history of the hospital facilities that existed on our island in the first half of the twentieth century. In this period, health facilities proliferated significantly from the island's only four hospitals at the end of the previous century, two of them public (San Martín and San Lázaro) and two private (the English Hospital and the San José Asylum House). In the historical analysis of all these centers, the author stops at the figure of the main doctors who were in charge of health care, so the book also becomes an interesting source of biographical information. The presentation
of the monograph will be attended by the author, who will be accompanied by Dr. Manuel Herrera Hernández and the president of El Museo Canario, Diego López Díaz.
