In the latest issue of the magazine Tabona, edited by the Publications Service of the University of La Laguna, the article "In the ambiguity of your skin is collected. About mummies and tombs", a reflection on the mortuary practice of the ancient canaries, and in particular on the phenomenon of mummification. The work has been produced by Verónica Alberto Barroso, Teresa Delgado Darias, Javier Velasco Vázquez and Jonathan Santana Cabrera, members of the research project "The collection of mummified human remains of The Canary Museum" that currently develops the entity. The article provides important data on this topic and proposes the analysis of this practice not as a singular phenomenon with value in itself, but under the gravel standards of the pre-Hispanic population of Gran Canaria, which leads its authors to re-examine the concept of mummy.
