On Friday, December 23, at 19:00 hours, the music will return to The Canary Museum with the hand of Promuscan (Association of Composers, Musicologists, Performers and Support Partners for the Promotion of Cult Music of the Canary Islands). The Concerto of Tribute to Victor Doreste: His Boleros and Works for Piano 50 Years Later, a meeting that will pay homage to the great writer, musician and grancanario painter Victor Doreste (1902-1966), whose death was 50 years old on November 26. Despite the importance of Doreste in Canarian culture, the ephemeris of its death went unnoticed among the political and educational institutions of our community, so the Promuscan association, with the intention of filling this void, organizes this act of homage that will include a likeness of its creative development, especially in its facet as a musician and composer , which constituted his great passion throughout his life. Next we will offer a recital in which will be performed pieces for piano and seven of his light songs, recovered for the occasion by Cristina Cira Rodríguez, who will also give them voice accompanied to the piano by José María Cu

rbelo. The songs that can be enjoyed in the concert are part of the Victor Doreste archive, which is preserved in The Museo Canario thanks to the donation of his manuscripts by his heirs. Although Víctor Doreste is known mainly as a writer (a facet in which he excelled thanks to the novel Faycán and the comedy costumbrista Ven here, wine tintillo), this file is also the main source for studying the author's almost unknown musical work. Along with the instrumental parts of orchestral works, such as Canción triste, Minuetto or zarzuela La zahorina, loose papers containing lyrics of songs, manuscripts of accompaniments, draft ideas, etc. are also preserved.
